Render with Real-World Lenses
Lens Sim is a Blender addon created to simulate camera lenses based on real-world optical data. By extending the standard blender camera you can easily choose and render dozens of lenses in Cycles. By simulating the physical characteristics of glass and the aperture opening we get common lens effects such as chromatic aberration, vignetting, distortion, lens softness, focus breathing and natural bokeh shapes. These effects contribute to the organic, imperfect look of physical photography. The standard camera provides an idealized, perfect clean render that misses out on these unique characteristics, making images feel sterile or too “perfect,” which can detract from a “film-like” look. This addon inspires to improve that.

Each lens is implemented through a built-in data table.

By guiding rays towards the aperture opening we get little to no loss of rays at higher f-stops
Render Farm Compatibility Lens Sim works native within Blender, without relying on the addon itself during rendering. This means once your scene is set up, Lens Sim’s features are fully integrated into Blender’s system, allowing it to run seamlessly on any render farm that supports Blender.
Editing Tools Tailor lenses to specific scenes by adjusting parameters like custom chromatic aberration ramp, tilt shift, add extra lens distortion, use a custom aperture image, emulate anamorphic effects, add swirliness to your bokeh, extend the field of view beyond the original lens design and add lens dirt.

-Custom Presets
You can now create custom presets for lenses, Sensor Width, Frame Guides for filters etc.
The data will be saved under the User Data Path
-Render Schematics
Slight alternating colors on the lens schematic for easier reading
Display Surface Indexes in the schematic viewer
Enabling “Use Lens Makers Equation” for focusing will discard the nodes used for the other focusing system
This will allow for roughly double the lens elements
Aperture and sensor will be shown in both axes when enabling Split View
Background grid in split view will now align to each lens
Sensor size should now have right size according to the render resolution
Removed mesh bevel(caused some meshing issues)
-Zemax importer now supports aspherical lenses
-Added custom lens rotation for cylindrical lenses
-Support for cameras with a fixed sensor position (Lens Data->Calibrate->Focusing)
Common for modern lens design that uses a Rack Focus LUT to focus instead of moving the whole lens.
-Focus Empty Track To camera constraint
Added an extra button that adds a Track To constraint to the camera, aims the camera at the Focus Empty
Button will be visible once the focusing empty is unparented from the camera
This can be enabled by default on new cameras in the addon preferences
-Preference option: Active camera will now be shown in the UI when a camera is not selected or pinned to the UI
-Preference option: Override camera Passepartout

Tweaks:
-Increased max aspherical lens elements to 10
-Increased rack focus elements to 5
-Sensor Width is now in mm

Bugs and fixes:
-Setting the Sensor Pos Near and Sensor Pos Far to the same value will no longer break the ray guiding
-Lens Dirt, Type 1 “Mesh Distance” is now working as expected.
-Deleting camera setup from the camera list should now work as expected
-“Censor Display Shape” is now “Sensor Display Type”
-“Bokeh Aspect (Wierd)” is now “Bokeh Aspect (Weird)”
-Rare bug with camera creation and selecting newly created objects
